eLearning FAQs

Q – Is elearning as effective as Instructor-Led Training?
There have been hundreds of studies comparing elearning to Instructor-Led Training. The consensus shows that elearning, when properly developed, is as effective, if not more effective, than Instructor-Led Training on most topics.

Q – Is custom elearning expensive?
No. Elearning saves 50% or more over the cost of traditional Instructor-Led Training—particularly when you consider tangibles and non-tangibles like trainer’s time, learners’ time, lost productivity and travel expenses.

The REAL value, however, is not in reducing training costs, but in achieving your business objectives like increasing productivity or improving compliance.

Q – How much time can elearning save?
Elearning can reduce instructional time by 50% or more, while also eliminating travel time—resulting in TOTAL TIME SAVINGS of as much as 80% or greater.

Q – How long does it take to develop a standard one hour elearning course?
6-10 weeks—although times can vary depending on content subject matter, interactivity required, and availability/response time of your subject matter experts.

Q – How much time must a subject matter expert commit to produce a one hour elearning course?
If the subject matter already exists in one form or another, i.e. in a PowerPoint presentation, the subject matter expert usually partners with LeanForward’s instructional design team for 12-20 hours.

Q – Can we maintain our own training after it is developed?
Yes, LeanForward develops it elearning courseware and other training materials using user-friendly third party tools so clients can maintain their training in-house after it is developed.

Q – Can LeanForward teach us to develop our own training?
Yes, LeanForward can assist you in all aspects of building your own training development program.  This includes development of course templates and organization-specific instructional methodologies that can be used to develop training in-house.

Q- What elearning tools are used to develop the training?
There are a wide variety of authoring tools available to address specific training needs.  LeanForward selects the authoring tool(s) best suited to each client’s specific needs and dedicates time staying current with all of the leading authoring tools.  Most of the programs we have produced were developed with Flash, Lectora, Articulate, Captivate and/or Camtasia.
